About SquigAI

Where the Name Comes From

"Squig" is the nickname we gave our oldest son. It stuck before he could walk, and it stuck long after. When it came time to name this company, nothing else felt right. SquigAI carries his name because everything I build is ultimately for him, his younger brother, and his little sister.

The Mission: AI for People

SquigAI exists to make useful, private, high-quality AI tools that run locally and respect the people who use them — no data harvesting, no subscription traps, no vendor lock-in. Whether it's a desktop photo editor, a model fine-tuner, a budgeting app, or a freelance manager, every product is built around the same idea: technology should work for you, not the other way around.

A Solo Developer's Story

I spent more than 30 years in corporate tech — climbing ladders, shipping products, and doing good work. Four layoffs taught me that someone else's company will never provide the kind of stability my family needs. So I stopped waiting for permission and started building on my own.

SquigAI is a one-person operation. I design, develop, test, and ship every product myself. That means things move at a deliberate pace, but it also means every tool I release is something I actually stand behind.

Why Autism Matters Here

Our son has Level 2 autism. He's sharp, hilarious, and sees the world in a way most people can't. Raising him has shaped how I think about design, communication, and what "intuitive" really means. Part of SquigAI's mission is building something durable that can support him and his siblings well into the future, while contributing to autism-related causes along the way.

Thanks for checking this out. If any of the products are useful to you, that's the best support there is.
